Snickerdoodles

Ok, so let me explain the recent explosion of cookies on my blog.  It all started with my need to be prepared.  But I know what you're thinking--how do cookies help you be prepared?  And prepared for what??

Honestly, I don't have answers to those questions.  Sometimes things get really screwy in my head.  What can I say?

Actually, I think all this cookie making and FoodSaver-ing and organizing I've been doing lately is in preparation for fall/winter.  You know how creatures in the wild start stockpiling things to get them through until the spring?  Well, they run out of resources and I run out of free time.  I have to stock my freezer and pantry now or we'll never make it to spring.  I'll be so sidetracked by other things that I won't have the time or energy to feed us.  I need to do it now, while I'm thinking about it and have no plans.

It doesn't help that my husband is completely spoiled and likes fresh cookies all the time.  And he likes to have people over at the spur-of-the-moment.  And I like to bring people food when I visit them.  And I'm lazy.  And I have a FoodSaver.  And a label maker.

So what it boils down to is that I'm making lots of cookie dough to keep in the freezer.  This way I'll be prepared when the hubby says, "honey, it's late, but can you make some cookies?"  Or when he says, "Travis is coming over in 20 minutes, can you make some cookies?"  Or when I decide someone has had a bad day and I want to bring them cookies.

Ok, ignore me.  Just make these cookies.  Freeze the dough for later or fire up the oven immediately.

I'll stop rambling now :)

  1. This is why we're friends. Because I firmly believe that cookies help you be prepared too. I can't explain it logically, either; its just a deep down intuition I have. : )

Love ya! And love your recipes. In fact, I've decided that your oatmeal raisin cookies just might be the perfect cookie EVER.
