I make exceptions when it comes to vintage pieces like this ivory Fire King loaf pan. [Insert squealing here.]

This particular Fire King logo indicates that this little guy was manufactured between 1951 - 1960. I found him at Value Village for $2.99! Can't wait to bake some pumpkin bread :)
Then there's Pyrex. I already have a boat load of contemporary Pyrex pieces, but a few months ago I was thinking about my mom and for some reason started thinking about her old Pyrex stuff. That's really how this whole vintage glass thing started. Anyway, she had several different sets of nested Pyrex bowls. She also had a few baking dishes. On a whim, I headed over to eBay and nearly fell over from the sticker shock.

The cheapest price I saw for this 8 x 8 baking dish was $16.99 + shipping. Can you believe that?! Anyway, I found mine at Value Village for $3.99.
And I picked up this plain white baking dish for $2.99 while I was at it.

Pyrex is always marked as Pyrex. And it is fairly easy to figure out how old a piece is or other information on the patterns and colors. I like to head over to Pyrex Love to drool :)
If you decide to troll your local thrift stores for vintage Pyrex, keep in mind that there are lots of Pyrex knock-offs. Like this guy, for instance.

I picked this one up for $1 at the Desert Industries Thrift Store. When I got home, I tried to figure out the name of the pattern and was stumped. Turns out this is actually a Glasbake piece. Not nearly as collectable as Pyrex or Fire King. But, for $1 it still makes me happy :)
